Asthma

Asthma can not only be addressed naturally but these measures can help reverse asthma entirely and address the underlying factors which are inevitably affecting other areas of health as well.

High-Dose Vitamin C Therapy

This is the most important thing to start with! People with severe asthma have low blood concentrations of ascorbate (vitamin C), particularly men and children.

Typical dietary quantities and low supplemental doses do not work. Robert F. Healing the Gut

Ultimately, the root issue of asthma must be addressed, and that is healing the gut! 

YL has many many products that can be very beneficial to facilitate healing of the intestinal system but the top ones I would choose that most facilitate this are:

• Lavender, lemon, and copaiba oils (a few drops of each in a capsule 1-2x/day) (I would especially do copaiba including with children because it helps reduce histamine levels as well.)
• Sulfurzyme (very beneficial for promoting gut healing and reversing autoimmune illness)
• Life 9 probiotic
• Inner Defense (just 7-day regimen to kill off pathogenic bacteria/fungus)

Removing pasteurized dairy is another essential step for reversing asthma and minimizing flare ups, especially in the beginning. An autoimmune paleo diet or GAPS diet can be especially beneficial and expedite intestinal healing.

Autism and ADHD tips from Holly Hill

This is the journey we have had to recovering our son from Autism, Adhd, and getting him off his medications. We are continually working on and changing this, but this is the general guidelines for what worked for us! I encourage you to start with the reading and Sara’s class, so you understand the reasoning behind all the other things you will do- it will be so beneficial in your journey.

Chiropractic care: Chiropractic care was instrumental in our journey! Our son was very much out of alignment, which was causing major issues through his whole body. Use Valor after each appointment for the best results, and have them check for retained infant reflexes, and do exercises to strengthen the brain and crossing the midline

Oils: Daily use a capsule of copaiba, lavender, lemon, peppermint – we did 4 drops twice a day to start

Sacred Frankincense on the base of the neck, as well as Northern Lights Black Spruce for anxiety and restlessness

Sleepyize for sleep problems, as well as fidgeting.

Trauma Life has been helpful for us in releasing anger and frustration

Supplements: Pre and probiotic, 1500-2000mg DHA, Mineral Essence- lots of it!, Vitamin C to Bowel Tolerance if possible, Longevity or Thyme oil (in a capsule), Super B

Parasite cleanse

Diet:

We went gluten and dairy free for several months, then added them back in as raw dairy and sourdough bread

No refined sugars, no food dyes

Whole foods only

This will likely be the hardest change- but it is absolutely necessary!

Home Detox:

Remove every toxic chemical from your home- cleaners, soaps, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, personal care products, everything. Leaving these things will only add to the issues, because they damage the gut.

Shingles Protocol

From RCD Cherie Ross:

As you know, Shingles is a virus from the "Herpes" family. As a virus, traditional pharmaceutical intervention is ineffective. Once you have Shingles, even if the symptoms subside, the virus lays dormant in your body and any stressor will bring it back.

Young Living Essential Oil's have proven to be extremely effective with Shingles. I personally have worked with many (including myself) with extreme success with no return of the virus! Here is some of what has worked for others. 

(Please note that these are general suggestions and you may need to customize for your personal results).

Be aware that consuming the following will fertilize and strengthen the virus. So, if you're serious about getting well, avoid these items;  sugar, sports drinks, coffee, alcohol, soda pop, use of microwave.

Also, increase your "pure" water consumption; adding in Lemon, Peppermint, Ocotea, or Peppermint Young Living Essential Oils.

Combine the following oils together in a "00" capsule 

or 

1 Tbsp Olive or Coconut oil take orally 4 times per day

Ravintsara - 8 drops
Exodus II - 8 drops
Copaiba - 5 drops

Multigreens - 6 capsules daily (must use Young Living's, it is loaded with Melissa and Lemongrass Essential Oils.)
Inner Defense - 1 capsule 3-4 times day
AlkaLime - 1 heaping tsp in water and drink down at bedtime

Topically: Ravintsara and Copaiba as often as needed
 

Melissa Oil - 1 capsule taken orally 1-2 times daily

Take the oils orally either with or without food in your tummy - you need to discover what works best for you!

Additionally, often the ingredients in toothpaste will re-ignite any of the Herpes family viruses- So please use only YL toothpastes; Dentarome, Dentarome Plus (extra Thieves), and Dentarome Ultra (whitening and strengthens enamel).

The new Ecuador Oils of Ocotea and Eucalyptus Blue are also extremely high in anti-viral capabilities. So, these may work as well or in place of Ravintsara and Exodus II.

Now is an excellent time to do this very simple cleanse. It has worked well for everyone. Producing gentle excellent results, many have completely cleaned their gall bladder so thoroughly that their MD’s cancelled the gallbladder surgery, finding it no longer necessary. 

Items you’ll need;

· lots of Pure Spring or Distilled water

· lots of organic Apple Juice

· Lots of organic Apples and Grapefruit

· 6-9 organic Lemons

· 1 cup Epsom Salts

· YL Detoxzyme

  YL  Essentialzyme

· YL Juvatone

· YL Juva Flex

· YL Ningxia Red

· YL K&B Tincture if needed for additional kidney support.

Especially helpful for Gout, Edema, Swollen Joints etc.

Day 1 through 6 (usually Monday through Saturday)

Drink as much fresh organic apple juice as you can. If you cannot get fresh organic apple juice, purchase the best quality organic apple juice available at the health food store or co-op. If you do not tolerate the sugar in apple juice, dilute the apple juice 50% with water. if you still do not tolerate the apple juice, then eat at least three or four fresh organic apples each day in place of the apple juice. Chew the apples well and drink plenty of pure spring water throughout the day. Continue with a paleo diet and any nutritional supplements you are currently taking.

Suggested supplementation:

Comfortone, Juva Power, Detoxzyme, GLF oil (Gallbladder & Liver Flush) Lemon oil

9 Detoxzyme - 3 caps 3 x day between meals

6 Comfortone - 1 - 2 caps 3 x day with meals

Juva Power - 1 heaping scoop 3 x day in water or juice

GLF oil - 1 capsule (20 drops, size 00) 2-3 x daily

Lemon oil - 1-3 drops in every 8oz. of pure water at least 68oz. per day in addition to you apple juice

6 Essentialzyme - 2 tablets  3 x a day with meals

6-9 Juvatone - 3 tablets 3 x daily

Ningxia Red – 4oz. daily in 16oz pure water

Day 6 (usually Saturday)

Eat your normal, healthy breakfast and lunch.

Two hours after lunch: Prepare a mixture of 1 to 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salt in 3 ounces of hot spring or distilled water. prepare 1/3 to 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice. if you are allergic to lemons, substitute grapefruit or orange juice. When you are ready, HOLD YOUR NOSE, swallow the Epsom Salt mixture, CONTINUE HOLDING YOUR NOSE, drink the lemon juice and swish it around in your mouth before swallowing. RELEASE YOUR NOSE.

Repeat the above procedure in two hours.

For dinner: Eat only fresh grapefruit (organic is preferred.) If you have a problem with grapefruit, you may eat fresh apples and drink fresh or high quality organic apple juice.

At bedtime: Prepare a glass with 1/2 cup or organic, unrefined, cold-pressed olive oil Prepare another glass with 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice (or grapefruit/orange juice if you are allergic to lemons.) HOLD YOUR NOSE, drink the olive oil, follow with the lemon juice, swish the lemon juice around in your mouth before swallowing.

RELEASE YOUR NOSE.

Go immediately to bed. Lie on your right side with your right knee pulled up close to your chest for 30 minutes.

Go to sleep.

Day 7 (usually Sunday)

One hour before breakfast: Take 1 to 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salt dissolved in 3 tablespoons hot spring or distilled water, followed by 1/3 to 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice. REMEMBER TO HOLD YOUR NOSE.

You may want to do 10 to 15 minutes of vigorous exercise 30 minutes following the Epsom Salt.

Eat a lighter than normal healthy breakfast.

Plan a relaxing, restful day as your body is purging itself. You may see a change in your stool color, and/or light to dark green gelatinous objects in your stool this day and maybe the next. These contain purged bile from the gallbladder and are helping to detoxify the liver and relieve congestion in the gallbladder.

If there are a large number of these objects in the stool you may repeat the liver/gallbladder flush in two to three weeks. Otherwise the flush may be repeated as needed, up to 2 to 4 times a year.

It is highly recommended to take for the next 10 days following each liver/gallbladder flush:

9 Detoxzyme - 3 caps 3 x day between meals

4 Comfortone -   1- 2 caps 2 x day

Juva Power - 1 heaping scoop 3 x day in water or juice

Strep Throat

(This is not meant to replace medical advice; this is sharing research. Please make your own decisions about your healthcare!)

Strep Throat

Even in natural health circles, antibiotics are highly touted as the only remedy for strep throat. But many of us know that antibiotics pose a high risk to our health, including permanently damaging gut health (which is where at least 70% of our immune system resides) and contributing to MRSA.

Plus, antibiotics may not even be that helpful for strep throat. In a study from 2003, doctors tested the efficacy of prescription antibiotic treatment for strep throat. They found:

Penicillin treatment was not more beneficial than placebo in resolving symptoms of sore throat.

It goes on to state:

Penicillin V does not reduce the duration of symptoms. . . nor does it affect school attendance or recurrences of sore throat.

The risk of strep sequelae (complications arising from strep throat such as ear infections, sinusitis, and scarlet or rheumatic fever) is a concern among parents and the reason many choose to use antibiotics for this type of bacterial infection. Considering that studies show antibiotic treatment can cause dangerous bacteria to harbor in the gut for up to two years, its use for treatment of strep throat to prevent sequelae should be used with the following considerations:

1. According to the study, “Complications have become extremely rare in affluent Western communities”;

2. Also according to the study, “Once a sequela is diagnosed, sufficient time is left to start antibiotic treatment.”

This simply means that these complications are easily treated when they are diagnosed right away and are thus no longer dangerous as they once were. If antibiotic treatment is not chosen for strep throat, it can be used in the case of subsequent sequelae.

3. A child’s diet and lifestyle is an important consideration when determining whether or not to use prescription antibiotics for the treatment of strep throat. A child who is often around other children, especially in a daycare setting, and whose diet consists of processed foods and refined sugars may not have the immune system protection necessary to fight well against sequelae. But this does not mean that they must choose CHEMICAL antibiotics!

4. The use of natural antibiotics is highly recommended.

But what about PANDAS?

No, not a cute cuddly bear! There is concern over something called PANDAS, Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections.

The term is used to describe a subset of children who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or tic disorders such as Tourette Syndrome, and in whom symptoms worsen following strep infections such as “Strep throat” and Scarlet Fever.

The children usually have dramatic, “overnight” onset of symptoms, including motor or vocal tics, obsessions, and/or compulsions. In addition to these symptoms, children may also become moody, irritable or show concerns about separating from parents or loved ones. This abrupt onset is generally preceeded by a Strep throat infection.

It’s important to note that the mechanism behind this phenomenon is still not understood but one thing is clear: it is an autoimmune response to something pathogenic–bacteria or otherwise. That alone tells us that something else is wrong other than the strep bacteria itself.

In the case of autoimmune disorders, we know now (although conventional medicine is not as willing to accept this proven research) that a tendency towards autoimmune conditions are a result of things like vaccinations, antibiotics, and other chemical attacks on the body. It is likely that some children suffering from PANDAS (which by the way does not have any objective tests to confirm this diagnosis) had a strep throat infection that was in fact treated with antibiotics and that that very treatment could have triggered an autoimmune reaction from the strep bacteria.

In other cases, a child’s body that has already launched an autoimmune attack as a result of being inoculated with vaccinations is more prone to autoimmune disorders.

Besides, I am not necessarily advocating a Do-Nothing Approach, I am simply advocating a NATURAL approach to strep throat!! And my main recommendation for it is this:

OREGANO OIL–THE STREP-THROAT ANTIBIOTIC

Oregano Oil is a proven and powerful natural antibiotic. Oregano contains elenoic acid, a powerful antibiotic and antiviral compound.

At least two studies have shown that oregano oil—and, in particular, carvacrol, one of oregano’s chemical components—appear to reduce infection and growth of strep bacteria as effectively as traditional antibiotics. 1

In research done by Dr. Diane Horn, out of 73 essential oils tested, three were found to be highly inhibitory against Streptococcus pneumoniae. Those three were oregano, thyme, and rosewood. 2

And offering something even better than prescription antibiotics, oregano oil may also be an effective treatment against dangerous, and sometimes drug-resistant bacteria, a Georgetown researcher has found.3

Harry G. Preuss, MD, MACN, CNS, professor of physiology and biophysics, and his research team, tested oregano oil on staphylococcus bacteria—which is responsible for a variety of severe infections and is becoming increasingly resistant to many antibiotics. They combined oregano oil with the bacteria in a test tube, and compared oregano oil’s effects to those of standard antibiotics streptomycin, penicillin and vacnomycin.

The oregano oil at relatively low doses was found to inhibit the growth of staphylococcus bacteria in the test tubes as effectively as the standard antibiotics did, but of course without the permanent gut damage and MRSA risk!

Possible options to consider:

--Inner Defense capsules (contains oregano) (These can be cut or pierced open and put into liquid with fat (such as milk) or citrus and swallowed for those who can't swallow the capsules.)

--Thieves mouthwash gargled

--Probiotics such as Life 9

--Colloidal silver spray if needed

Detox Your Makeup

What's in your makeup? 💄 Even a lot of "natural" cosmetics contain some of these ingredients, including some of the most popular "natural" makeup companies out there. Let's go into them individually a little bit more and see why it's so important to avoid them.

Just like we talked about in our Home Detox class, Greenwashing is a big problem. Companies promote themselves and their products as natural but really aren't healthy or toxin-free. If you have a "natural" makeup, pull them out or look up their ingredients online and see if they have any of the ingredients we're about to discuss!

Talc: For decades, this was used on baby's little bums. And then we learn it's carcinogenic and highly contributes to ovarian cancer risk in females. This is a perfect example of an ingredient that is totally "natural" (it's a naturally-occurring mineral) but is definitely not toxin-free. 

Preservatives may be used in cosmetics to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. The parabens used most commonly in cosmetics are methylparaben, propylparaben,butylparaben, and ethylparaben. These are anything but natural or toxin free. 

Parabens are potential endocrine disruptors due to their ability to mimic estrogen. Studies demonstrate that at sufficient concentrations, parabens can increase cell proliferation in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. 

Applying personal care product containing parabens—especially methylparaben—can lead to UV-induced damage of skin cells and disruption of cell proliferation (cell growth rate). Daily application, in particular, can lead to increased concentrations of methylparaben because it is not completely metabolized. Parabens combined with other estrogenic chemicals may potentially influence the development of malignant melanoma, one form of skin cancer, through their estrogenic and genotoxic activites.

Some parabens reduce sperm production and lead to reduced testosterone levels.

Some forms of parabens are banned in Denmark.

This petroleum-derived "natural" ingredient could very well be one of the worst.  A 2011 study published in the Journal of Women's Health reported: "There is strong evidence that mineral oil hydrocarbons are the greatest contaminant of the human body, amounting to approximately 1 g per person."

The researchers removed fat specimens from 142 women who were undergoing C-sections, and collected milk samples from them post-delivery. Scarily, they found that both the fat and the milk were contaminated with mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons. The authors concluded: "The increase in MOSH [mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons] concentration in human fat tissue with age suggests an accumulation over time. Cosmetics might be a relevant source of the contamination."

Yikes!

Does your current makeup or body care products contain mineral oil??

Bismuth is a pervasive ingredient found in some of the most popular "natural" beauty makeup companies. And while it's not as toxic as mineral oil, bismuth blocks the pores and causes acne--specifically whiteheads and blackheads. Bismuth does not allow the skin to breathe, blocking our body's natural ability to detox the things we put on our face. So the combined effect of bismuth used in conjunction with other toxins is especially dangerous.

If you are using conventional lipstick, may I encourage you to STOP?!!

There are no regulations to test and limit the levels of heavy metals in cosmetics. Many lipsticks have been independently tested and found to contain high levels of mercury, lead, and other neurotoxins.

(And BTW if your "natural" lipstick has any red without artificial colors, it comes from carmines (bugs).)

Every time you lick your lips, you could be ingesting heavy metals.

And guys--you are too when you kiss her. Give her your blessing to spend a little more money on safe lipstick. 😉💋💄

You're asking, "What now?" I know. I spent years asking myself that question. For a time, I pretty much gave up on makeup. I'd rather go with the au naturae look than put toxins on every day. I dabbled with natural makeup but much of it that was truly natural just really didn't work well. And I didn't even know about bismuth and talc so I thought I was getting good stuff!

Week 4 of Sharing is Caring: Share the benefits of wholesale membership!

Home Detox 2018

A healthy home is a beautiful thing. Too many homes are filled with products containing chemicals that contribute to cancer, hormone disruption, thyroid problems, asthma, migraines, and so many more health issues. Even so many "natural" ones contain these horrible ingredients like synthetic fragrance chemicals. It can seem overwhelming to change it. 

That's why we're doing a complete Home Detox 2018 together. We'll pick one room a month to focus on and month-by-month, detox our homes together. There'll be weekly educational posts and monthly giveaways. All of the information will be updated right here in this post each week!

Week 1 of Kitchen Detox: Dishsoap

What's cleaning the dishes you eat off of and what are you soaking your hands in?!!

Well one of the worst things we can use is that brightly-colored Dawn! This rates D out of F on EWG's ratings. It contains some of the biggest no's including:

-Fragrance (nervous system effects, respiratory effects, hormone disruption, etc.), 

-Artificial colors (which are petroleum-based), and

-METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE which is high concern for skin irritation/allergies/damage. 

AND GUESS WHAT?! I discovered earlier this year that the "hypo-allergenic," "natural," "non-toxic" Seventh Generation dishsoap also contains METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE as well as another artificial preservative. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

That's when I started using Thieves dish soap and nothing else.

It's pricier. But it's not just getting our dishes clean. It's giving us the therapeutic health benefits of the Thieves essential oil every time we wash our dishes!

WHAT ABOUT BUBBLES?

Thieves Dish Soap takes a minute to get used to because it doesn’t bubble. Really, none of the liquid cleaners bubble: the laundry soap, shampoos, and Thieves household cleaners included.

There are a couple of good reasons for this: 1) essential oils change the surface tension of bubbles, making them more likely to pop, and 2) most bubbles you find in liquid soaps are a byproduct of SLS.
.
SLS or sodium lauryl sulfate is a very common surfactant found in about 30% of cleaning products, and much of this is synthetic. SLS is a known ocular irritant, dermal irritant, can be absorbed across the skin, and may also be associated with hair loss and aquatic toxicity. Therefore YL chose to exclude it from their products.

So, take a tip from me: skip the bubbles. They mean nothing for the cleansing power of the product, and more natural alternatives are available.

Home Detox 2018 Week 2: Hand Soap

We're in the kitchen this week and we covered dish soaps for Week 1. This week we're going to go through the low down on hand soaps. 

This is one area I had a really hard time switching over due to a tight budget and lots of kids! I remember the days when I would buy the huge refill container of generic Softsoap full of so many horrible toxins. 

Thankfully, the FDA is finally realizing that Triclosan in hand soaps is really hazardous to our health and doesn't even get hands any cleaner than without it. So we generally don't have to watch out for this nasty ingredient as much as we used to, but still be on the lookout for it as it's one of those that you should avoid at all costs!

Like we talked about with dish soaps, "fragrance" or "parfum" is another ingredient we need to watch out for. But this one is a big issue with hand soaps because it's even in A LOT of the "natural" hand soap brands. 

This ingredient is so important to avoid because the term "fragrance" or "parfum" can include any of hundreds of different chemicals that are linked to hormone disruption, allergies, dermatitis, asthma, infertility, and cancer. 

Go ahead and check your soaps right now and see if they contain "fragrance!"

Other things to avoid:

Parabens. These ingredients are estrogen mimickers—meaning that once applied to the skin, they enter the bloodstream, and the body mistakes them for estrogen. When the body thinks there is an abnormally high amount of estrogen present in the bloodstream due to the presence of these hormone disrupters, it reacts in various ways: decreasing muscle mass, increasing fat deposits, causing early onset of puberty and spurring reproductive difficulties in both men and women. 

Sulfates. These chemicals are used to produce lather and bubbles in soap. Some common sulfates are SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and SLES (sodium laureth sulfate). Sulfates strip the skin of its natural oils and increase penetration of the skin’s surface. They are also irritants for people with sensitive skin or eczema.

SO WHAT CAN WE DO?!

Young Living gives us lots of options, including Thieves foaming hand soap and lavender foaming hand soap!

At first, I bought liquid castile soap and used Thieves oil to refill my Thieves foaming hand soap. I figured this would be the cost effective way to go. But then I budgeted it out and realized that it wasn't really any cheaper, especially if I was going to use enough Thieves oil to make it really count for getting stuff clean! So I started buying the Thieves foaming hand soap refill and have been doing that ever since! (See the picture in the comments for the cost breakdown.)

Thieves foaming hand soap is concentrated so I personally dilute it! I fill an empty foaming hand soap bottle 1/3 of the way with Thieves soap refill and fill the rest with water (running slow so it doesn't bubble!). It foams great and smells fabulous!

Bars of soap also tend to last a long time for washing hands so Young Living's bar soaps can be a great option too!

Week 3 Home Detox 2018: The Lowdown on Dishwasher Detergent

We generally don't think much about this one but this is something that we end up ingesting because there's always going to be some residue on our dishes! 

The FDA doesn’t mandate ingredient disclosure to household products. That means that what may be deemed “safe” for one person may be harmful to another. In fact, most commercial-brand dishwashing detergents are made from a petroleum-based mixture of chlorine bleaches and other harmful substances that can cause hormonal disruptions, lung and eye irritations, intoxication and even cancer.

☢️ Chlorine: Chlorine gas was used by the U.S. as chemical warfare in WW1. The U.S. government was convicted of illegal war crimes for using chlorine gas. Even in small amounts, it causes or exacerbates asthma and allergies. In liquid form, even in tiny amounts, it negatively affects gut and skin flora and mutates DNA. Chlorine also negatively affects thyroid health by blocking absorption of iodine.

☢️ Phosphates: According to Cascade’s website, phosphates “helped with dishwashing performance by facilitating food removal, removing the calcium that binds these types of foods together, and aided in grease removal. They also helped control water hardness and bound/suspended soils within the wash water so they did not redistribute onto plates.” What they did not say is that phosphates pollute lakes, bays, and streams and can create algae blooms and starve fish of oxygen. Luckily, 17 states passed laws requiring the removal of phosphates from detergents.

☢️ Many have ingredients like Sodium Formate and Polyvinyl Alcohol which are labeled as hazardous to ingest. 😱

☢️ And like we talked about with dishsoap, dishwasher detergents also usually contain synthetic preservatives like benzisothiazolinone (even Seventh Generation). These preservatives have been banned in other countries and are banned for use in cosmetics. (Yet it's allowed in even "natural" dish products that we soak our hands in.) These chemicals are used as preservatives due to their antimicrobial nature, which means they likely also negatively affect microflora.

So what do we do instead?! The only dishwasher powder I know for sure is safe is Thieves Dishwasher Powder! The first time I ordered it, I opened the bag to see what the powder was like and I was instantly amazed at how fabulous it smelled!! I've never had dishwasher powder that smells so great and is so natural!

Migraines--Eliminating Them Once & For All

How to handle migraines naturally:

Get to the root.

• At least 80% of chronic migraines are caused by magnesium deficiency. Mineral Essence taken sufficiently and daily completely eliminated my migraines. It is the most bioavailable source of magnesium along with around 60 other trace minerals. Each person’s need for magnesium will vary as it depends on the depth of their deficiency and current lifestyle as consumption of refined sugar and coffee as well as stress quickly deplete magnesium. Keep increasing dosage of Mineral Essence (and Magnesium Glycinate if more magnesium is needed or Mineral Essence can't be taken) until migraines are eliminated.
• Other causes of migraines include imbalanced hormones (for which magnesium will still help greatly), consumption of neurotoxins (MSG-monosodium glutamate, and aspartame), and an overloaded liver. For an overloaded liver, implement any of the Juva products into your daily supplement regimen.

At the onset of a migraine as soon as the aura starts (or sooner), place a drop of either peppermint, frankincense, or M-Grain on your thumb and hold on the roof of your mouth for thirty seconds. Take an extra dose of magnesium (Mineral Essence or magnesium glycinate) and about 5 drops of copaiba held under the tongue for 5-10 seconds and then swallowed down with some liquid (or placed in a capsule for those with sensitive gastrointestinal areas). Continue with the copaiba internally every couple hours and any of the following topically on the back of the neck/head:

• Peppermint
• PanAway
• M-Grain
• AromaSiez
• Deep Relief

Eliminating Gout

To address gout, the first and most important steps are:

1. Eliminate refined sugars (cane sugar, beet sugar, powdered sugar, raw sugar, evaporated cane juice, high-fructose corn syrup, etc.), esp. sodas and alcohol. Drinks containing high-fructose corn syrup contributes to uric acid buildup in the body more than things people with gout are normally told to avoid (like meat). Avoiding meat is not necessary but meats from organically-raised animals is ideal.
2. Take Mineral Essence daily. This specific supplement is important for two main reasons in this case. First--those with gout are generally deficient in minerals and these minerals are necessary to help bring get pH balance more alkaline since acidity promotes the formation of uric acid crystals. Candida Detox Protocol

There's a lot of info out there about candida. But some of it can be confusing or can worsen health in the long run. Let's break it down into a candida detox protocol that is easy, healthy, and effective.

“Yeast overgrowth, aka candidasis, is exactly what the term says: It is the opportunistic and sometimes explosive growth of a microorganism as a result of a fertile terrain for its reproduction or the immune system’s inability to keep it at bay, or both.

Yeast overgrowth is typically the result of antibiotics or a lifestyle or diet that feeds yeast.

Essential oils treatments do little to change such lifestyles overnight, but they are very effective in eliminating the overgrowth of yeast and its annoying symtpoms.”

First, let's talk about Nystatin and why we want to avoid it!

According to Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride in Gut and Psychology Syndrome, 

“These drugs lead to selective stimulation of growth of the Proteus family and lactose-negative E.coli series, capable of causing serious disease. ”

Nystatin carries the same risks as common prescription antibiotics. We have natural options!

Here's the protocol I've found to be very effective with my clients over the years.

Full Protocol

This protocol should be followed for approximately 10 days. Dosages are for adults. Adjust as needed.

YL's Inner Defense (1-2 capsules 2x/day)

YL's MultiGreens (2 capsules 2x/day)

HFFG's Chlorella Detox (Start with 1 capsule for first 3 days and if tolerated well, increase to 2 capsules/day for remainder of protocol and ongoing for preventative maintenance.) (Another chlorella can be used but enzymes would need to be added in as well as the enzymes in HFFG's chlorella help break through the candida biofilm.)

Life 9 Probiotic (1 capsule/day)

ComforTone or ICP (ICP for children and breastfeeding moms) to have on hand if needing help clearing bowels to efficiently eliminate candida die-off

Diet

While many practitioners recommend elimination of all carbs for eliminating candida, there is new research showing that this may cause the candida to burrow deeper into the body in search of food. Using the supplements above, I have seen success with a diet that eliminates all sources of refined sugars (cane sugar, beet sugar, evaporated cane juice, organic sugar, raw sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, etc.) as well as flours (including gluten-free flours). White potatoes should be avoided but sweet potatoes/yams are okay as well as up to two servings of fruit per day.

Natural Pain Relief

There are so many things we can do to find relief naturally! Good thing too, because conventional pain relievers are detrimental to liver, kidney, and gut health.

Acetaminophen can damage the liver. The safe upper limit of normal is 3,250 milligrams (mg) a day — about 10 regular-strength acetaminophen tablets, but that might be too much for some people. There are reports of people developing liver problems after taking small to moderate amounts of acetaminophen for long periods of time.

Tylenol is linked to thousands of cases of kidney failure in the U.S. every year.

NSAIDs, particularly ibuprofen and aspirin, are rough on your stomach, and they're just as rough on the lining of your gut. They create ulcerations and inflammation in the gut lining, damage that causes something known as a "leaky gut." Leaky gut is the cause of things like food sensitivities, seasonal/environmental, asthma, eczema, psoriasis, fibromyalgia, and so many other health issues.

Thankfully, there are effective ways to soothe pain naturally! Some ways work better than others depending on the cause or the source of pain, so let's look at the many options!

• Copaiba--Copaiba activates cannabanoid receptors in the brain that trigger  a powerful response to inflammation. While copaiba is very beneficial when used topically, Copaiba Vitality taken internally is especially effective! A couple drops under the tongue can help achieve a quick response. Up to 20 drops internally per day has been proven in research to be safe even during pregnancy. Copaiba can be used safely on baby's gums for teething pain as well.

All About Progessence Plus--What, Why, & How

Progessence Plus

When recommending natural products to increase a client’s progesterone levels, there is never a single product that will work for everyone. Some women need more supplementation and need it cycled, while others need just a tad of daily supplementation to help them along.

For those who need daily progesterone supplemented to help with PMS or other menstrual symptoms, hot flashes, insomnia, difficulty conceiving, or other things related to hormone imbalance, Young Living’s Progessence Plus may be a good choice.

It is especially good for teenagers suffering from symptoms of hormone imbalance like acne and irregular periods.

Progessence Plus contains USP progesterone along with therapeutic essential oils that support hormone balance. Because Progessence Plus is a serum and not a cream, it is absorbed into the bloodstream better than progesterone creams that often end up staying in the fatty layer below skin before getting into the bloodstream. Because of it's bioavailability, it works well with much less progesterone than creams.

Progessence Plus contains approximately 1 to 2 mg of USP progesterone per drop, so a good starting dosage is to use 1 or 2 drops twice daily. Unlike progesterone creams that contain 20-40 mg, Progessence Plus does not need to be cycled and is best when used daily. Keep in mind that it is most beneficial for those who stay consistent with using it daily. 

For clients with more severe hormone imbalance, this amount may not be sufficient and they may need to use more. Use what your body needs! Rotate the application site and experiment with using different times of day to see what works best for your body.

I will also add that asthma signifies what's commonly referred to as "leaky gut" or gut dysbiosis, usually a result of things that damage the intestinal wall in the gut and create an autoimmune reaction such as antibiotics and vaccines. Exposure to secondhand smoke is another possible contributing factor. Avoiding these things and maintaining proper gut health is key to long-term asthma prevention and management.

Warts (Human Papilloma Virus)

Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) to treat hand warts:

Tea tree oil (TTO) (Melaleuca alternifolia) has been used recently as an effective topical application for the treatment of skin infections due to a variety of aetiological microbial agents, including mainly bacterial infections. We detail the first report in the peer-reviewed literature of the successful treatment with TTO of a paediatric patient with warts on her right middle finger. TTO was applied topically once daily to the lesions for 12 days, with a successful outcome, including complete re-epithelization of the infected areas. The case highlights the potential use of TTO in the treatment of common warts due to human papilloma virus.

Food Poisoning (Samonella, E. Coli, Listeria)

Oregano, allspice and garlic essential oils (EOs) can be effective, natural barriers against E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria. A new study revealed that oregano oil was found to be the most effective antimicrobial, followed by allspice and garlic.

Testing was done by laying the films on top of the bacteria and also by exposing the bacteria to the vapors arising from the film. According to researchers:

Summary: Oregano essential oil seems to be the best essential oil option for most cases of food poisoning. Keep in mind that oil of oregano is much different than oregano essential oil and may not be as effective as it is very diluted. Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca)

We have performed a single-blind, randomised clinical trial on 124 patients to evaluate the efficacy and skin tolerance of 5% tea-tree oil gel in the treatment of mild to moderateacne when compared with 5% benzoyl peroxide lotion. The results of this study showed that both 5% tea-tree oil and 5% benzoyl peroxide had a significant effect in ameliorating the patients' acne by reducing the number of inflamed and non-inflamed lesions (open and closed comedones), although the onset of action in the case of tea-tree oil was slower. Encouragingly, fewer side effects were experienced by patients treated with tea-tree oil.

Herpes Simplex Type 1 (cold sores) and Type 2 (genital herpes)

Peppermint Oil:

Peppermint oil exhibited high levels of virucidal activity against HSV-1 and HSV-2 in viral suspension tests. At noncytotoxic concentrations of the oil, plaque formation was significantly reduced by 82% and 92% for HSV-1 and HSV-2, respectively. Higher concentrations of peppermint oil reduced viral titers of both herpesviruses by more than 90%. A clearly time-dependent activity could be demonstrated, after 3 h of incubation of herpes simplex virus with peppermint oil an antiviral activity of about 99% could be demonstrated. 

Considering the lipophilic nature of the oil which enables it to penetrate the skin, peppermint oil might be suitable for topical therapeutic use as virucidal agent in recurrent herpes infection.

Acyclovir-resistant clinical isolates of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) were analyzed in vitro for their susceptibilities to essential oils of ginger, thyme, hyssop, and sandalwood. Head Lice

Tea Tree Oil (Melaluca Alternifolia) 

In an attempt to assess the contribution of their component monoterpenoids, a range of common individual compounds were tested in in vitro toxicity model against both human lice (Pediculus humanus, an accepted model of head lice lethality) and their eggs, at different concentrations.

Terpinen-4-ol [melaleuca alternifolia--tea tree oil] was the most effective compound against adult lice...nerolidol [neroli, ginger, jasmine, lavender, tea tree, Cannabis sativa, and lemon grass]  was particularly lethal to eggs, but ineffective against adult lice.

Gout / Uric Acid

Cinnamon essential oil:

Giardia (intestinal parasite disease)

Oregano:

In the world, giardiosis is still a very important parasitic disease; only in Asia, Africa and America, there are more than 200 million of infected people in a year. The usual treatments are drugs that produce undesirable secondary effects, perhaps favouring the resistant strain selection. One alternative is to research compounds from plants used as antidiarrhoeic or antiparasitic in the traditional medicine. In a previous work, we found that Lippia beriandieri (Oregano) revealed to be more potent than tinidazole, a common antigiardiasic drug. In this current work, we tested the cell viability by re-culture and reduction of MTT-tetrazolium salts to MTT-formazan, and we showed the effect of oregano ethanolic extracts against Giardia intestinalis (synonyms: Giardia duodenalis, Giardia lamblia) trophozoites at concentrations ranging form 58 to 588 microg. We demonstrated the ultrastructural injury produced by oregano extracts in this parasite. Trophozoites lost their size and shape and showed damage in nucleus structure, perhaps by breaking the pattern of nucleoskeleton proteins.

Strep Throat

Even in natural health circles, antibiotics are highly touted as the only remedy for strep throat. But many of us know that antibiotics pose a high risk to our health, including permanently damaging gut health (which is where at least 70% of our immune system resides) and contributing to MRSA.  

Plus, antibiotics may not even be that helpful for strep throat. In a study from 2003, doctors tested the efficacy of prescription antibiotic treatment for strep throat. They found:

Penicillin treatment was not more beneficial than placebo in resolving symptoms of sore throat.

It goes on to state:

Penicillin V does not reduce the duration of symptoms. . . nor does it affect school attendance or recurrences of sore throat.

The risk of strep sequelae (complications arising from strep throat such as ear infections, sinusitis, and scarlet or rheumatic fever) is a concern among parents and the reason many choose to use antibiotics for this type of bacterial infection.  Considering that studies show antibiotic treatment can cause dangerous bacteria to harbor in the gut for up to two years, its use for treatment of strep throat to prevent sequelae should be used with the following considerations:

1.  According to the study, “Complications have become extremely rare in affluent Western communities”;

2.  Also according to the study, “Once a sequela is diagnosed, sufficient time is left to start antibiotic treatment.”

 This simply means that these complications are easily treated when they are diagnosed right away and are thus no longer dangerous as they once were.  If antibiotic treatment is not chosen for strep throat, it can be used in the case of subsequent sequelae.

3.  A child’s diet and lifestyle is an important consideration when determining whether or not to use prescription antibiotics for the treatment of strep throat.  A child who is often around other children, especially in a daycare setting, and whose diet consists of processed foods and refined sugars may not have the immune system protection necessary to fight well against sequelae. But this does not mean that they must choose CHEMICAL antibiotics!

4.  The use of natural antibiotics is highly recommended.

But what about PANDAS?

No, not a cute cuddly bear! There is concern over something called PANDAS, Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections.

The term is used to describe a subset of children who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or tic disorders such as Tourette Syndrome, and in whom symptoms worsen following strep infections such as “Strep throat” and Scarlet Fever.

The children usually have dramatic, “overnight” onset of symptoms, including motor or vocal tics, obsessions, and/or compulsions. In addition to these symptoms, children may also become moody, irritable or show concerns about separating from parents or loved ones. This abrupt onset is generally preceeded by a Strep throat infection.

It’s important to note that the mechanism behind this phenomenon is still not understood but one thing is clear: it is an autoimmune response to something pathogenic–bacteria or otherwise.  That alone tells us that something else is wrong other than the strep bacteria itself.

In the case of autoimmune disorders, we know now (although conventional medicine is not as willing to accept this proven research) that a tendency towards autoimmune conditions are a result of things like vaccinations, antibiotics, and other chemical attacks on the body.  It is likely that some children suffering from PANDAS (which by the way does not have any objective tests to confirm this diagnosis) had a strep throat infection that was in fact treated with antibiotics and that that very treatment could have triggered an autoimmune reaction from the strep bacteria.

In other cases, a child’s body that has already launched an autoimmune attack as a result of being inoculated with vaccinations is more prone to autoimmune disorders.

Besides, I am not necessarily advocating a Do-Nothing Approach, I am simply advocating a NATURAL approach to strep throat!! And my main recommendation for it is this:

OREGANO OIL–THE STREP-THROAT ANTIBIOTIC

Oregano Oil is a proven and powerful natural antibiotic. Oregano contains elenoic acid, a powerful antibiotic and antiviral compound.

At least two studies have shown that oregano oil—and, in particular, carvacrol, one of oregano’s chemical components—appear to reduce infection and growth of strep bacteria as effectively as traditional antibiotics. 1

In research done by Dr. Diane Horn, out of 73 essential oils tested, three were found to be highly inhibitory against Streptococcus pneumoniae.  Those three were oregano, thyme, and rosewood. 2

And offering something even better than prescription antibiotics, oregano oil may also be an effective treatment against dangerous, and sometimes drug-resistant bacteria, a Georgetown researcher has found.3

Harry G. Preuss, MD, MACN, CNS, professor of physiology and biophysics, and his research team, tested oregano oil on staphylococcus bacteria—which is responsible for a variety of severe infections and is becoming increasingly resistant to many antibiotics. They combined oregano oil with the bacteria in a test tube, and compared oregano oil’s effects to those of standard antibiotics streptomycin, penicillin and vacnomycin.

The oregano oil at relatively low doses was found to inhibit the growth of staphylococcus bacteria in the test tubes as effectively as the standard antibiotics did, but of course without the permanent gut damage and MRSA risk!

The leaf essential oil of Laurus nobilis Linn., Lauraceae, which has been used as an antiepileptic remedy in Iranian traditional medicine, was evaluated for anticonvulsant activity against experimental seizures. When recommending natural products to increase a client’s progesterone levels, there is never a single product that will work for everyone. Some women need more supplementation and need it cycled, while others need just a tad of daily supplementation to help them along.

Of course I was worried because of my previous miscarriages, but we told the Lord that no matter what happens, we would be grateful for each moment, and give Him the glory.I continued using this product every twelve hours over my upper ankle (that is the pressure point for the uterus). I am happy to say that I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, and we just found out on Thursday that we are having a little girl! Doctor says my progesterone levels as well as everything else look perfect!!! Which is amazing, because progesterone levels have always been an issuer for me.

After a miscarriage at 8 weeks, I found I was pregnant again and so this time I decided to use bio-identical progesterone. I first used a different brand (Beeyoutiful’s Beeyoutiful Balance) but when I tried to go off of it at 12 weeks as instructed, I spotted for the entire week. Afraid of miscarrying again, I then began to use Progessence plus from 12 weeks to 16 weeks and was able to safely come off of it. My rainbow baby is now 6 months!

Progessence Plus contains approximately 1 to 2 mg of USP progesterone per drop, so a good dosage is to use 1 or 2 drops twice daily. Unlike progesterone creams that contain 20-40 mg, Progessence Plus does not need to be cycled and is best when used daily. Keep in mind that it is most beneficial for those who stay consistent with using it daily. 

For clients with more severe hormone imbalance, this amount may not be sufficient and they may need to transition to a higher dosage bio-identical progesterone cream. However, I find that Progessence Plus works nicely as an introductory dosage to those clients and that it is best to start out with the amount in Progessence Plus before supplementing with a higher dosage product, especially when hormone levels have not been tested to know exactly where they are. I have also had clients who used this product regularly and it substantially increased their progesterone levels!

Due to the profound benefits customers experience from Progessence Plus, it is quite frequently out of stock. I try to keep one bottle of it in my essential oils stock at all times, so you can message me to see if I have one available.

Keep in mind that it is also essential to detoxify the body of excess estrogen, since too much estrogen will keep progesterone from increasing as needed. 

MYRHH

Myrrh is an amazing essential oil with roots that go back to Scripture. Here are some of the Biblical references to this oil as well as some of the researched benefits and uses for it:

"Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus, 500 shekels of cassia--all according to the sanctuary shekel--and a hin of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil."

This is just a small sample of the research I found easily and quickly on myrrh essential oil. But my preferred use for myrrh is for any skin issues--cuts, rashes, cracks/dry skin, etc. It is the ONLY essential oil I will use on OPEN wounds. It was the treatment of choice in many traditional societies for skin issues. 

Myrrh is a common ingredient in oral care products for the benefits it provides related to things like canker sores, gum and tooth infections, etc. 

And one more thing--myrrh can be helpful for hormone and thyroid issues: "Myrrh contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions) and the hypothalamus, pineal, and pituitary glands. The hypothalamus is the master gland of the human body, producing many vital hormones, including thyroid and growth hormone." (Essential Oils Desk Reference, Sixth Edition)

Depression, Anxiety

Lavender essential oil:

"Anxiolytic effect of lavender was superior to placebo in 221 patients suffering from anxiety disorder. In addition, lavender improved associated symptoms such as restlessness, disturbed sleep, and somatic complaints and had a beneficial influence on general well-being and quality of life [51, 52]. In line with this study, the efficacy of a 6-week-intake of oral lavender oil preparation (Silexan, 80 mg/day), compared to lorazepam, was investigated in adults with generalized anxiety disorder. This study indicates that lavender effectively ameliorates generalized anxiety comparable to 0.5 mg/daily lorazepam [53]"

An investigation on the effect of lavender aromatherapy (diluted to 2% concentration) on anxiety and depression in the high risk postpartum woman showed a significant improvement of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale after four consecutive weeks of administration of lavender [57].

On not releasing GC/MS results: some companies' competitive edge IS unique and original distillation methods they have developed that allow them to get a more complete chemical profile. Releasing those GCMS reports would tip competitors off as to what exact chemical profile they were producing and a)try to copy their distillation methods or b)create synthetic blends with identical profiles that would fool most labs. 

Furthermore, the companies who do post GC/MS results with their product info often only post the results from one batch, not each batch. CORRECTION: There has been some recent experiments conducted and it was determined that adding essential oils to Epsom salts is not the most effective way to disperse essential oils into bath water. The thing that proved to be the most effective was liquid castile soap. So to ensure that essential oils are evenly dispersed throughout the bath water and do not sit on top of the water, add your selected essential oils to some liquid castile soap and then add to bath water.
