Asthma can not only be addressed naturally but these measures can help reverse asthma entirely and address the underlying factors which are inevitably affecting other areas of health as well.
Why would we want to address asthma naturally? Because asthma medications synthetically block cell receptors in the body, which doesn't heal the underlying problem and allows the root cause to worsen. Additionally, the medications can have serious negative health effects.

Asthma medications while pregnant have been found to cause Gastroschisis, a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall where the baby's intestines are found outside of the baby's body, exiting through a hole beside the belly button. https://academic.oup.com/aje/article/168/1/73/123738
To address asthma, we must first get to the root and remove any contributing factors still present.
Factors that cause/contribute to asthma:
Tylenol (in utero exposure and in early childhood) raises risk of asthma by 540%!

Asthma: A Gut Reaction to Antibiotics:
This research published in Environmental Health demonstrates the link between damaged gut flora and antibiotics. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1257633/
Additional research showing a link between antibiotics and asthma:
Children who receive antibiotics within their first six months of birth increase their risk of developing by age 7 allergies to pets, ragweed, grass and dust mites and asthma, according to study conducted at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Vaccinations:
“A nasal Hib vaccine has been shown to stimulate Th1 and Th2 cells in mice. If the Th2 side of the immune system is over stimulated, then this can increase the risk of asthma and allergy.”

(You will also see it listed as a potential side effect on many vaccine packet inserts from the manufacturer.)
This study finds the following:
Family history of asthma appears to be a risk factor for wheezing after influenza vaccination.

Vaccinated twice as likely to have asthma and more than twice as likely to have allergies.

Disposable Diapers also linked to asthma:
(This is mostly in part due to the dioxins/chlorine in conventional diapers that are absorbed through the skin, thereby further exacerbating imbalanced microflora.)

Fragrance Chemicals
Home and body care products containing synthetic fragrances are a major contributor to asthma and respiratory problems. These products include:
- Candles
- Air fresheners
- Cologne/perfume
- Laundry soap and dryer sheets
Detox the home of any and all products containing the word "fragrance" or "parfum" on the label!
Steps for Naturally Reversing Asthma
- Avoid any of the above factors!
- High-Dose Vitamin C
- Essential Oils
- Heal the Gut
High-Dose Vitamin C Therapy
This is the most important thing to start with! People with severe asthma have low blood concentrations of ascorbate (vitamin C), particularly men and children.
Effective asthma treatment is readily available with cheap, safe and convenient vitamin C. The only requirement is to take enough vitamin C to be effective. Typical dietary quantities and low supplemental doses do not work. Robert F. Cathcart III, M.D., who has treated many asthma sufferers, says “Asthma is most often relieved by bowel tolerance doses of ascorbate (vitamin C). A child regularly having asthmatic attacks following exercise is usually relieved of these attacks by large doses of ascorbate. So far all of my patients having asthmatic attacks associated with the onset of viral diseases have been ameliorated by this treatment.”[3]

Young Living's Vitamin C products are great for maintenance in those without asthma but those with asthma need more Vitamin C without any additional ingredients that may not be ideal for high dosing, so a plain, non-GMO ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate is best. Essential Oils for Asthma

Miscellaneous other oils used in a variety of ways for helping combat asthma: http://royallyoily.com/fighting-allergy-induced-asthma-with-young-living-essential-oils/
Kurt Schnaubelt, PhD., Founder of Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy and author of numerous essential oil books, recommends essential oil rectal suppositories for asthma. He states that this method allows the oils to go straight to the lungs, bypassing the liver and all other body systems, making it work much more quickly than taking it internally or aromatically. Here's a video on how to make an EO suppository: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e92qUH2YHsc
Additional Respiratory Support Tips
- Ningxia Red 2-4 ounces a day
- 5 drops each Cedarwood, Idaho Blue Spruce & Copaiba in a capsule 3 times a day or as needed for inflammation
- RC & Raven alternating on the chest and back (with a carrier oil)
- Myrrh or any of the above oils in a nebulizer when needed
Healing the Gut
Ultimately, the root issue of asthma must be addressed, and that is healing the gut!
YL has many many products that can be very beneficial to facilitate healing of the intestinal system but the top ones I would choose that most facilitate this are:
- Lavender, lemon, and copaiba oils (a few drops of each in a capsule 1-2x/day) (I would especially do copaiba including with children because it helps reduce histamine levels as well.)
- Sulfurzyme (very beneficial for promoting gut healing and reversing autoimmune illness)
- Life 9 probiotic
- Inner Defense (just 7-day regimen to kill off pathogenic bacteria/fungus)
- Essentialzymes (for hcl and help digesting food) or Allerzyme (or Mightyzymes for kids)
- MultiGreens (prebiotic, oils and nutrients for eradicating candida, etc.)
Removing pasteurized dairy is another essential step for reversing asthma and minimizing flare ups, especially in the beginning. An autoimmune paleo diet or GAPS diet can be especially beneficial and expedite intestinal healing.
