As a natural health practitioner, a large portion of my work is helping clients recover from the devastating effects of antibiotics. And while antibiotics have saved many lives, the overuse is causing things like MRSA, C-diff, Crohn’s, Colitis, IBS, allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and so much more.
Things like this too:
"Those who got the antibiotics showed signs of having antibiotic-resistant bacteria in their guts — potentially setting them up for medications that may not be effective later." https://www.statnews.com/2016/06/15/antibiotics-c-sections-may-change-childs-health-for-the-long-term/

Unfortunately, conventional medicine is not utilizing the extensive research on natural antibiotics to use in place of conventional antibiotics. Thankfully, there is a lot of research and clinical experience we can utilize to determine if a natural option may be right for us.
Here is some research and options to consider. Please keep in mind that this is not meant to replace the advice of your healthcare provider and is meant to be a starting point for your own research and your personal journey.
Some of the most researched and most effective options include:
Oregano oil
Thyme oil
Inner Defense (supplement from Young Living which contains a blend of powerful antibacterial essential oils including those listed above)
Probiotics (see below)
Orthomolecular (high-dose) Vitamin C therapy: https://www.healthyfamiliesforgod.com/full-details-on-highdose-vitamin-c-therapy/
Unlike essential oils, colloidal silver does damage the good bacteria along with the bad so it’s not an ideal choice unless the other options have not worked. It can be a good option for places like eyes and ears where oils cannot be used.
The following is some specific research to help you make the decision that is best for your family. Please keep in mind that dietary and environmental factors may need to be addressed as well, such as elimination of refined sugars and chlorine, etc.
***Along with the following research, please also utilize the benefits of high-dose Vitamin C and probiotics in order to quickly and effectively combat more difficult cases especially.***
Another thing to keep in mind is that there is much research out there showing that treating things with antibiotics (esp things like mastitis, strep, ear infections, etc.) increases the chances of it recurring and being harder to treat each time, so if antibiotics were used previously, more effort with multiple natural alternatives are likely needed. (Read this for more about that: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1827150667324713&id=123685951004535&__xts__[0]=68.ARBthGunu4G7JLhOR_SlwmXlxNWKBlZGtqYoNX3butwoF5gsVu-UvbFobgBowV0ePbWI4vv65sqHK-KZSW9OWZvkTnBqMSQI2I4MGAA_mJF9mu92kP-Zrpz6bjRGcMHyYwkPlUNBRmjrTwsK7RXeW0R6NV-RqhT-AR4Im7fqkLESCEit4wZDDA&__tn__=-R )

Food Poisoning and Norovirus
Study finds that oregano oil applied to lettuce innoculated with listeria, salmonella, and E. coli reduced presence of those bacterium.
Food Microbiol. 2015 May;47:69-73. doi: 10.1016/j.fm.2014.11.007. Epub 2014 Nov 26. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25583339
Oregano oil inactivates norovirus (stomach flu) within 1 hour. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24779581
Oregano EO for E. coli and shiga toxin http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25790499
Urinary Tract Infections
Oregano Essential Oil:
The bactericidal concentration of oregano EO irreversibly damaged E. coli O157:H7 cells within 1 min. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14615795
(Most UTI's are caused by E. coli bacteria.)
Mastitis
Cinnamon essential oil:
The results of this study confirmed the antimicrobial activity of cinnamon EO and TC against clinical Staphylococcus spp. independent of the antibacterial susceptibility profile. The best antimicrobial activity was observed with TC than in the cinnamon EO, which deserves further research investigating the use of these compound in the treatment of mastitis.

MRSA
Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil:
This study has scientifically validated the traditional use of Cinnamomum species in treating wound infections. Of high scientific interest was the observation that the antibacterial effect of Cinnamomum impressicostatum stem-bark crude water extract against MRSA

Other essential oils (singles and blends):
Ninety-one essential oils, each distilled from a single plant source, and 64 blended essential oils obtained from a commercial source were screened using the disc diffusion assay for inhibitory activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Of the 91 single essential oils, 78 exhibited zones of inhibition against MRSA, with lemongrass, lemon myrtle, mountain savory, cinnamon and melissa essential oils having the highest levels of inhibition. Of 64 blended essential oils, 52 exhibited inhibitory activity against MRSA, with R.C. (a combination of myrtle, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus australiana, Eucalyptus radiata, marjoram, pine, cypress, lavender, spruce, peppermint and Eucalyptus citriodora oils), Motivation (a combination of Roman chamomile, ylang ylang, spruce and lavender oils) and Longevity (a combination of frankincense, clove, orange and thyme oils) blended essential oils having the highest inhibitory activity. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ffj.1904/abstract

Ear Infections
The Journal of AMA says that antibiotics are not an effective treatment for ear infections and rates of recurrent ear infections are significantly higher in those treated with antibiotics. More info: https://www.facebook.com/123685951004535/photos/a.883346668371789/1704406419599139/?type=3&theater

All About Probiotics
Healthy flora helps protect the body from everyday things, even things like E. coli, salmonella, etc. Supporting a healthy gut flora with probiotics goes a long way in protecting the body from harmful bacteria.
