A study analyzing data from the 2009-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in the US revealed that 57% of American adults have prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes (this is over half of all adults!!). And most don’t even realize it!
A 2018 Stanford University study showed that 80% of healthy individuals without prediabetes or diabetes experience glucose spikes into the prediabetic range from common breakfast foods!
Every glucose spikes worsens insulin resistance, so the main way to address insulin resistance is by reducing glucose spikes.
When it comes to PCOS, the ovaries have insulin receptors so every glucose spike stimulates production of androgen hormones which causes hormone imbalance, infertility, weight gain, facial hair growth, etc.
