It’s most commonly-known benefit is that of a liver detoxifier. We have so many toxins in our world that we can’t control, and some that we can control like the food we eat and the medicines we take. This drink helps the liver move those toxins out when its overloaded with too many to expel on its own. In fact, some people that we have given it to immediately experience detoxifying symptoms like frequent bowel movements! (But don’t worry–it’s nothing like prunes and it’s well worth it!)
But one of my favorite benefits is that it contains lots of probiotics, essential for good gut health. And if you’ve been on my Facebook page for a while, you know how important good gut health is to our overall health! (For more information on probiotics and why they’re important, read my article Probiotics 101.)
One of the best things you can do for your health is include probiotics and get rid of toxins. And you don’t have to shell out $4 for a 16-ounce bottle to get it! Making it homemade costs only about 75 cents a bottle!
To make kombucha, you basically make a large batch of tea (with sugar, which gets consumed by the yeast during the fermentation process so it’s not a sugary drink when it’s finished), add a kombucha SCOBY (Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria & Yeast–aka the mother “mushroom”–although it’s not a mushroom at all) and some pre-made kombucha tea, let it ferment for at least a week, and the first stage is done.
You can drink it as is or do a second fermentation to add flavor and carbonation, making it a delicious and healthy soda! (This is our family’s “soda.”) To do this, you can add fruit juice, pieces of fruit, or other options; bottle it; and set it aside for an additional two days. You will then have a fizzy, delicious kombucha tea like the ones in the store.
With each batch you make, you get a “baby” Scoby which you can use to make more batches or give to a friend. To get started, you just need a SCOBY and 1/2 cup of pre-made kombucha tea.
You can order this through me and I will ship you a SCOBY and the pre-made kombucha tea that you need to get started for $15. Most places charge $13 minimum plus shipping for DEHYDRATED Scobys and $35 for organic hydrated Scobys like mine! These Scobys are alive and well; they do not need to be re-hydrated and are made with all organic teas and organic sugar. Each order also comes with 3 pages of instructions and information.
Simply order with the button below and make sure your mailing address with Paypal is correct. It will ship priority mail from my home in Minnesota. Every order allows you 24-7 help with kombucha making via email as well!

Each order includes one live, organic kombucha SCOBY with 1/2 cup organic kombucha tea, enough to make one gallon of kombucha tea, and instructions–$15 (only for U.S. orders; includes shipping. Please see below for orders outside of the U.S.).
Please note the outside temperature before ordering. During summer, kombucha scoby’s should only be ordered when the temperatures are no more than in the 80′s. These are live, fully-hydrated scoby’s and may not work properly if they are shipped during higher temperatures (keep in mind that the temperature in mail vehicles may be higher than the outside temp). Mailboxes can get especially hot, so be sure to take the box containing the scoby out of your mailbox as soon as it arrives. Because of these factors, kombucha scobys shipped during warmer months cannot be guaranteed.
