40-Day Challenge To Real Foods
For the 2012 New Year, I designed a 40-Day challenge and it was very successful. Many people up for it experienced the world of real foods! Challengers reported that their kids were enjoying healthy foods that they never thought they’d like, and others discovered that they themselves liked healthy foods too! (Read below for some of the comments from previous Challengers.)
Because it was so successful, I continued the Challenge as an ongoing program. Every week, new Challengers are starting HFFG’s 40-Day Challenge to Real Foods and transitioning to a healthy, whole foods lifestyle.
This program is great for those who do not feel like personalized coaching is their style. (If you have health concerns and/or current health problems, please check out my other page for my personalized nutrition counseling information: http://healthyfamiliesforgod.com/nutrition-counseling-wellness-education/. My personalized counseling is different in that it offers health advice and an action plan tailored to fit your current dietary needs and to help heal specific health issues. My personalized counseling is also a better option for those who would prefer to make very slow, gradual changes.)
During the 40-day Challenge, you will get the tools and help you need to switch from processed, premade, dead foods to living, whole foods the way God designed them.
As part of the Challenge, you will receive daily email newsletters (Monday-Friday) giving you tips and links for necessary information to make the transition. (This is similar to the services offered to my nutrition counseling clients; value $30/month.)
Before each week, you will also receive a weekly menu with recipes and a completed grocery list (normally a $6 value per week). These recipes include dinner ideas that are adaptable to many different preferences and dietary needs; many of which are as easy as throwing together a Hamburger Helper! I strived to make the menu plans incredibly adaptable for all types of diets, including grain/gluten-free or transitioning to whole grains. There are options and tips for substituting meat-free options, as well as ways to include more meat for those who prefer that too.
Some include slow-cooker meals for those late days and simple breakfast ideas for busy mornings.
By the end of the 40 days, your goal is to have transitioned to a whole foods dietary lifestyle. With each day of the Challenge, the food you eat will continue to get healthier and healthier. You will go from buying canned soups, boxed dinners, and frozen pizzas to filling up your grocery cart with living, whole foods from the produce section and other healthy real food. Some of the meals and snacks will be remarkably similar to what you are eating, just made healthier! Things like pizza, mac-n-cheese, and beef stew. Others are likely to be new foods that while you maybe wouldn’t otherwise try, you will likely find that you (and your children!) actually like it! (See testimonies below!)
(Note: This Challenge is different from HFFG’s Bi-Annual No-Refined-Sugar Challenge. However, none of the recipes included contain refined sugar so this too is free of refined sugar.)
If you’ve had a hard time getting rid of old habits, this might be just what you need! As many of us know, diets don’t work. Not only do they starve your body and brain of necessary nutrients, but they are expensive to maintain. (See my post on diets here:http://healthyfamiliesforgod.com/2011/11/the-dangers-of-diets-physically-spiritually-speaking/)
Diet and protein shakes aren’t healthy either! They may work for a time, but these are all still processed, dead foods that are man-made, not God-made. (See my post on protein shakes here:http://healthyfamiliesforgod.com/2011/12/could-visalus-other-soy-products-actually-be-harming-your-health/)
Our goal is to get back to God’s original design for our bodies and our lives, so we can experience freedom, abundance, and health!
And what Challenge towards health and wellness would cost only $20?! This is less than my monthly coaching service of $30 per month and includes free menu plans!
With my daily newsletters to keep you on track, 24/7 email help, delicious recipes, and your grocery list already completed each week for you, you can’t go wrong!
Because success is so much more likely with God’s help, each participant will be covered in daily prayer. Each newsletter will also include inspiration and spiritual guidance for success. Like Lysa TerKeurst says in “Made to Crave”:
Getting healthy isn’t just about losing weight. It’s not limited to adjusting our diet and hoping for good physical results. It’s about recalibrating our souls so that we want to change–spiritually, physically, and mentally. And the battle really is in all three areas.
So are you up for a challenge that could change your life?! We’re not talking another diet that fails–we’re talking about going back to God and His ways. When we do that, He will guide us to success!
